Flame Heating Group is hoping to build on the £25,000 it has raised for good causes in the North East, after announcing Saras Hope Foundation as its chosen charity for 2019.

The Boldon-based heating and plumbing merchant will support and fundraise for the Foundation over the course of the year, having previously supported Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.) in 2018.

Established in 2007 by Ged and Julie Hoburn, Saras Hope Foundation offers respite for children and young people with cancer and their families, which includes providing fully-funded holidays to create lasting memories with loved ones. 

No-deal Brexit could cost family-owned insulation manufacturer up to £85,000 per year

Family owned insulation manufacturer, SuperFOIL Insulation estimates that a no-deal Brexit could cost it £45,000 to £85,000+ per year.

SuperFOIL’s estimate is based on a report published by HM Treasury at the end of 2018 which calculated that a no-deal Brexit could make the UK’s economy 9.3 percent smaller over 15 years.

The analysis also shows that the impact for manufacturers in a no-deal scenario would be the equivalent to, on average, 9 to 17 percent of the value of EU trade compared to today’s arrangements.

Yorkshire-based bathroom supplier Easy Bathrooms ramped up its headcount by 60% and opened 11 additional showrooms in 2018, in its plan to become the UK’s number-one specified new-build brand.

The company now has 28 showrooms across the UK, with stores launching across the South of England – including Bracknell, Chelmsford and Norwich – in 2018; boosting staff numbers to 161. The stores aid housebuilders’ ability to improve buyers’ experiences – by providing an inspirational showroom for them to browse and make their bathroom choices.

Van and truck drivers are being warned to make sure their tyres are fit for winter conditions amid fears of increased accidents on icy roads.
Commercial vehicle leasing giant LeaseVan.co.uk claim drivers are 20% more likely to suffer a road accident during the winter months.

The company supplied thousands of vans to UK drivers each year and are warning their customers to make sure their tyres are fit for winter driving conditions.

This may mean changing their tyres altogether and replacing them with specialist winter treads, particularly if driving on remote country roads.
