The UK’s largest British designer and manufacturer of premium radiators and towel warmers, Vogue (UK), win SME News 2018 Midlands Enterprise Award for ‘Best Bathroom Heating &  Accessories Supplier 2018’.  

The SME News Midlands Enterprise Awards recognise ‘industrious and hardworking individuals and businesses’ located in the Midlands region to reward ‘innovation in business practice and outstanding overall performance’. 

Highlighting local traders and businesses in the area for driving innovation and maintaining healthy competition between sectors, Vogue (UK)were awarded the accolade of‘Best Bathroom Heating & Accessories Supplier’ for 2018.

Expansion sparked at Flame thanks to HSBC support

Flame Heating Group is to realise its ambitious expansion plans after receiving significant financial backing from HSBC UK.

The Heating & Plumbing merchant is expecting to more than double its workforce with the creation of at least 60 new jobs after securing a £4m funding package from HSBC UK.

The deal will also see the Gateshead-headquartered company, which currently employs 59 staff, launch several branches in the North East and enter new regions over the next three years. 

Established in 2011 with a single branch in Gateshead, Flame has grown to become the North East’s fastest-growing Heating & Plumbing merchant, which currently operates 11 trade counters across the region and in Scotland.

They do say that being an entrepreneur is a young person’s game.

When I founded Pimlico Plumbers, I was I was in my 20’s, and this is a trade which often involves lots of hard graft and stamina.

It’s probably no coincidence that the likes of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg were also in their 20’s when they founded their respective business empires.

Although this might be where any comparison with yours truly ends - as I’m more at home fixing a leaky pipe or installing a downstairs lav than getting involved in the world of tech!

Maybe it’s just the media image of entrepreneurs as young and thrusting but, it seems, the times they are a changing.

Gateshead-headquartered Flame Heating Group is celebrating further success after being recognised at the Builders' Merchants Awards for Excellence 2018.

Flame was a finalist in the Heating & Plumbing Merchant of the Year category at the awards, following another strong year. 

The Builders’ Merchants Awards for Excellence recognise the achievements of companies and their staff operating across the building services sector and is regarded as one of the most prestigious award ceremonies within the industry.

Since Flame was established, in 2011, it has achieved year-on-year, double-digit growth, and employs in excess of 60 staff.

Stainless steel heat transfer product manufacturer Fabdec is introducing a pre-plumb version of its pioneering WXI range of unvented water heaters.

The pre-plumb version is aimed primarily at the residential sector, allowing for a simple and fast installation, even in enclosed spaces.

The launch marks a further step in Fabdec’s commitment to simplifying the installation process and follows a partnership with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineers to utilise virtual reality models of the inner workings of Fabdec products to streamline installer training.

Colleagues and customers of City Plumbing and Plumbing Trade Supplies (PTS) are celebrating after their collective fundraising efforts have seen a massive £2 million donated to Teenage Cancer Trust.

From running and raft races to golf days and gala dinners, the teams took part in group and individual events across the country, culminating in the division-wide ‘Have your Cake and Eat It’ bake sale, which added more than £8,500 to the fundraising pot in just one day!

Former soldier turned gas engineer plots expansion after celebrating 5th anniversary

Darlington-based M.a.f Plumbing, Heating & Gas Services is targeting expansion and job creation as it celebrates its fifth year in business. Mark Fryer, owner of M.a.f, is hoping to recruit at least two gas technicians within the next 12 months after developing the company over the last five years.

Mr Fryer, 39, has been involved in the Heating & Plumbing trade since a young age as his father was a plumber. 

He previously served in the Royal Logistic Corps of the Armed Forces for more than 16 years, which included tours of Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, obtaining the rank of Sergeant, before training to become a gas technician. 

Flame supports F.A.C.T. with £9,000 donation

Flame Heating Group is supporting North East cancer charity Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.) with an £9,290 donation.

The firm has been fundraising for F.A.C.T. over the course of 2018, as it is the heating and plumbing merchant’s nominated charity for this year. 

Flame hosted a series of charitable events, culminating in its annual ‘Flame The Heat Is On’ Racenight at Newcastle Racecourse. HSBC UK matched all donations from the racenight, which contributed to the total amount raised.
